Hallow is an excellent resource for people searching for deeper spiritual lives, especially for the younger generation of Catholics today. It helps make it clear that a relationship with God is and can be extremely personal and can be a great source of peace, joy and strength.
Most Reverend Bishop Kevin Rhoades Bishop of South Bend - Fort Wayne
In a world so filled with noise, confusion, and need, Hallow provides a greatly needed respite and a wonderful array of gifts to more deeply connect with the Divine. Whether you are new to prayer or have explored many prayer practices, come discover a way to enter into an ever-deepening relationship with God.

Hallow really brings to light many different ways to pray. For anyone who feels they’ve been praying the same way for years, Hallow can completely renew the way that you interact with God on a daily basis.
Mike St. Pierre Executive Director of Catholic Campus Ministry Association
Hallow is a great example of how we can use all things and all circumstances in our lives to draw near to God - even our smartphone apps.
Aurora Griffin Author of How I Stayed Catholic at Harvard
We all know how difficult it is to “be still” in the busy lives that we keep. Hallow is the practical tool that helps young Catholics today to “be still” and engage the God that is looking to step into their lives, to meet them where they are at. This is modern evangelization.
Father John Puodziunas CFO at Franciscan Friars General Curia (global)

Hallow offers guided prayer and meditation sessions to help users grow in their faith and find peace in God. Think like the popular mindfulness apps out there, except it's built for Christians.
Our CEO, Alex, was a long-time user of the popular meditation apps. He loved them and felt like they were starting to lead him to both a place of peace and calm, and to what felt like a spiritual experience, but he was never able to integrate them with his faith life. At the same time, he felt “stuck” in his prayer life - trying to grow, but largely going through the same motions. He always felt like he was talking to the wall. Then a question came to mind: is there some sort of intersection between our faith lives and these types of contemplative and meditative experiences? A few months of research later, and the answer is of course! We had discovered a world filled with beautiful and ancient techniques that sit at exactly that intersection. We built Hallow to in an effort to share these methods with the world in an accessible, modern, and simple way.
Hallow is currently available on the App Store and Google Play Store as of December 5th, 2018, just in time for users to begin our Advent prayer challenge! See the links here:
There are two main issues here: First, there is an ever-increasing amount of stress, busyness and pressure in today’s world. Second, people, especially young people, are incredibly interested in growing in their spiritual lives, yet are falling away from their faith lives quicker than ever before. We believe both of these needs can be addressed with the Hallow solution – an app that can help people re-engage with their faith and find a place of stillness and peace through relationship with God.
First and foremost, users will learn a variety of ways to interact with God in a very simple, convenient, guided format. Using Hallow means exposing yourself to prayer methodologies that you may have never tried before (everything from the Examen, Lectio Divina, Spiritual Writing, Chant, Christian Meditation, the Rosary and much much more), with the goal of discovering what is most effective for you in your relationship with the big guy upstairs. Moreover, living with God means living in his peace and joy, and so the hope is that all users will find themselves more in His peace, but also bringing Him into our struggles and stress as well.
One of the prayer types that Hallow offers is called Lectio Divina, where the user reads a passage from scripture or a prayer, identifies a word or phrase that sticks out to them, and continues to meditate on that word or phrase. The first time that Hallow’s CEO, Alex, prayed through Lectio Divina, he was meditating on the Our Father and ‘hallow' was the word that stuck out to him from the phrase ‘hallowed be thy name'. Furthermore, the word itself means "to make holy”, and that is the core of Hallow’s mission: to let God hallow our lives, and to help others do the same.
The vision is that every day, each morning, we can all wake up, ask God what He wants us to do with our lives, listen to Him and recognize His voice, and then act on it…living each moment in His peace, love and joy. And hopefully Hallow can be one small piece helping us towards that vision. Hallow though, to be clear, will always just be one piece in this much larger puzzle. Hallow does not replace spiritual direction, spiritual reading, mass, community or any of the sacraments. Our belief is that developing a beautiful interior prayer life gives you energy and passion to pursue these other pieces (e.g., mass) more vigorously. The hope is to continue to add more features and content to Hallow such that it can be the best resource possible for helping people grow in their faith lives.
Alex and Erich both studied engineering at Notre Dame, went into management consulting at the Chicago office of McKinsey & Company, and then eventually made their way over to Silicon Valley - Alex heading to Stanford to pursue his masters degree and Erich to join Fuel by McKinsey. Alex served as an engagement manager, primarily in digital strategy and analytics. As part of Fuel, Erich spent the last year consulting for fast-growth tech startups in the San Francisco Bay Area on go-to-market and growth strategy.
The very first week we began our full-time jobs, despite hardly knowing each other, we found ourselves discussing how to keep faith a priority in our lives in a mostly secular and incredibly busy day job. Ever since, faith has been the theme of nearly all of our conversations. Hallow exists because both of us truly needed and continue to need it in our lives. When the “traditional” secular or Eastern meditation apps fell short of our spiritual aspirations, we decided to try to explore these techniques ourselves. And so here we are. Alex spends his time coding and helping Francis and Abby develop the content. Erich is working full-time to connect Hallow with the right communities, gather and respond to feedback, and generate interest in target markets. We immediately pulled together a core team of 6 additional members. All 6 members joined Hallow and its mission within just several weeks of the idea's first formulation. What we all have in common is that we were born and raised Christians, and, more importantly, that we are all actively trying to grow in our faith lives.
The other two full-time founding team members are Alessandro and Abby. Alessandro, our Head of Finance and Strategic Partnerships, immediately put together an incredible board of faith and business leaders and is leading our relationships with faith institutions.
Abby is our head of content and has worked very closely with Francis to synthesize thousands of years of spiritual practices into beautiful and relevant content with the help of Joe, our theology expert. Francis and Abby are also the distinguished voices and spiritual guides of Hallow.
Bryan, our community leader, has done a phenomenal job building the basis for personal faith communities across the country. Michael, our design guru, in a matter of a few weeks has put together the initial brand, aesthetic first version of every screen of the app, and our first wordmark and logo.
